Abstract

1,160,943. Spray carburetters. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. Feb.2, 1968 [Feb. 13, 1967], No.5351/68. Heading F1B. In a carburetter having an air valve 40 upstream of the throttle valve 36, the fuel metering valve 58 is connected to the air valve 40 by means of a lever 56 having one end engaging a ramp member 72. The inner end of the ramp member 72 is positioned by a cam 74 fastened to a shaft 76 connected to an engine temperature responsive bi-metal element (94, Fig. 2, not shown), and the outer end is pivotally connected to an arm 70 on a piston 66 subjected to the vacuum downstream of the throttle valve 36. An adjustable stop 71 co-operates with a slot in the piston arm 70. The chamber 24 above the float chamber 22 communicates with the induction passage 20 through bores 50 and 51 and with the float chamber through a slot 26 in the gasket 16.
