Abstract

A fluid journal, bearing comprises a first opening, 17 extending only in itsloaded side, whichopening is supplied with pressurized lubricant and is symmetrical about a first plane containing the axis of the. bearing, a second opening 19 through which fluid escapes being provided near a second plane perpendicular to the first plane. In Figs. 2 and 3. a rectangular groove 17 with two axial, sides is supplied with lubricant by bore 18. Axial grooves 19 allow escape of lubricant, and prevent pressurized lubricant reaching the unloaded side. of the bearing. Rectangular groove 17 may be replaced by straight groove(s).
