Abstract
1,100,629. Induction plasma torch. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 28 Oct., 1965 [31 Oct., 1964], No. 45719/65. Heading H5H. A gas discharge torch comprises a cylindrical h.f. coil 3 within which is rotatably mounted a cylindrical envelope 1 of non-conducting material, e.g. quartz, the torch having an inlet 21, 22 for the supply of gas, suitable for producing an electric discharge 2, into the envelope. The coil 3 may be water cooled. A movable carbon starting electrode 9 protrudes from an upper cap 10 through which the gas enters.
