Abstract

A filter web consists of monofils or multifilament twisted threads woven, or knitted, or of extruded mesh fabric of synthetic resin, the web being flocked on one or both sides after being provided with a binder. The web may be calendered after being flocked. The material of the threads may be polyamides, e.g. polycaprolactam, polyurethanes, polyesters, polycarbonate, polyvinyl cyanides, polyvinyl chlorides, polyvinylidene chlorides, and polyolefines. The binder may be a flock adhesive, e.g. based on polyacrylamide, and may be applied by spraying, dipping or with a wiper blade or spatula. Air may be blown through the web immediately after application of the adhesive to preserve the porosity. Flocking may be performed by mechanical, electrostatic, or combined methods. Application of a polyamide flock is described. Fibre flock may be striated before the adhesive dries. The monofil fabric may be fixed by heat on a tentering frame.
