Abstract
3: 31-Diphenoxy diphenyl (see Division C2) is used as a lubricant or heat exchange fluid.ALSO:3: 31-Diphenoxydiphenyl is prepared by reacting 3:3-haloaniline, e.g. 3-chloro- or 3-bromo-aniline, with an alkali metal phenate, e.g. sodium or potassium phenate in the presence of copper or copper bronze at temperatures up to 300 DEG C., e.g. within the range of 180-300 DEG C., to produce 3-phenoxy aniline, diazotizing the latter compound, replacing the diazonium halide group by an iodide or bromide by any well-known method, e.g. by subjecting the diazonium compound to a Sandmeyer reaction and self-condensing the 3-halodiphenyl ether in the presence of copper or copper bronze at temperatures up to 300 DEG C., e.g. in the range of 180-300 DEG C.
