Abstract

1,027,840. Laminated skis. HART SKI MANUFACTURING CO. Inc. Oct. 8, 1962 [April 2,1962] No. 38061/62. Heading A6D. A laminated ski comprises a core 18 to the lower surface of which are secured aluminium sheets 53, 65 and a perforated steel sheet 37 having continuous side edges from which fingers extend inwardly to terminate adjacent the tracking groove 25 of the ski. Secured on each side of sheet 37 are L-shaped running edges 55 the vertical flange 58 of which projects beyond sheet 37 to define a shallow recess within which a composition such as polyethylene or a hard thermosetting resin is moulded or bonded. The core 18 may be of wood or bonded material of wood particles and has an open medial portion 19 extending along the ski between the toe and heel plates. Narrow strips 27 e.g. of hard plastics material are secured to the sides of the core and the top structure of the ski comprises an aluminium sheet 29, a steel sheet 31 and a hard plastics sheet 32.
