Abstract
1,014,540. Suction cleaners. HOOVER Ltd. Aug. 13, 1963 [Aug. 14, 1962], No. 32011/63. Heading A4F. A suction cleaner includes a casing 10 forming a suction chamber 27 containing a motor fan unit 29, a wall of said chamber 27 having a cover 25 over an opening 22 which gives access to a filter bag 35 supported in the chamber with its inlet 37 in register with an inlet opening 50 in the cover 25 when the latter is shut, the supporting means 36 also engaging the underside of the cover 25 to support it against the suction force created in the chamber 27. The filter bag 35 is supported by fork 38 which spans the access opening 22, resting on a shoulder 47 at one end and hinged 43, 44 at the other end to enable it to be swung out away from the casing 10 to facilitate the removal of the dust bag 35. The plastics cover 25 has on its undersurface a gasket 51 to provide an air tight seal between inlet 50 and bag collar 37, when the cover 25 is shut and also reinforcing ribs 48, 49 which engage on supporting fork 38 and so prevent the cover buckling due to the suction of the motor-fan unit 29.
