Abstract

1,014,493. Closures; packages. SVEND ERIC ALBERTUS. July 17, 1962 [July 19, 1961], No. 27465/62. Headings B8C and B8T. A synthetic plastic cup-shaped member 10, for processed cheese, having a planar, radially outwardly extending flange 12 at its open side is closed with a sheet of foil which extends over and around the flange 12 and is formed into corrugations which engage the exterior of the cup along a zone adjacent and below the flange 12. A washer 22 between the top surface of the flange 12 and the cover 14 seals the container. Alternatively, an adhesive coating may be applied to the foil cover or to the upper surface of the flange 12, the adhesive being non-toxic, odourless and inert to cheese and capable of sealing the container either at room temperature or at the temperature at which the cup is filled. A finger-grip 20 is provided to facilitate removal of the foil cover.
