Abstract

1,011,742. Air conditioning. CARRIER CORPORATION. Sept. 25, 1962 [Oct. 3, 1961], No. 36458/62. Heading F4V. In an induction type room air-conditioning unit which can be recessed into a wall or ceiling, leaving only the secondary air inlet and air outlet visible, a chamber 7 is situated behind each of the two outlets which are disposed one on each side of the inlet, each chamber 7 having a number of downwardly-directed nozzles 6 through which air from a central supply flows. The central inlet chamber contains the air supply duct which is of V-section, its sides serving to deflect secondary air extracted from the room space by the ejector action of the nozzles through filtering walls 12 and heat exchangers 13 which heat or cool the air. The thus treated secondary air returns to the room admixed with primary air through directing baffles 16 and fins 17. Control 2, 10 are provided to regulate the primary and secondary air flows respectively and control means is also provided to regulate the flow of heating or cooling medium to the heat exchangers 13. The unit may incorporate lighting means or a loud-speaker.
