Abstract
1,001,095. Plate-type heat exchangers. RAMENS PATENTER A.B. Jan. 30, 1964, No. 4042/64. Heading F4S. A heat exchanger comprises a cylindrical casing 1 divided by a partition 5 into two inter-communicating compartments, in which are mounted a plurality of flat hollow tube elements 25a, 25b and 25c, an inlet 23 and an outlet 22 for fluid to be circulated around the tubes and an inlet 17 and outlet 16 for fluid to be circulated within the tubes. Four tubes 25a, each having a width less than half the radius of the cylinder, are provided across a diametral plane of the casing, the remaining tubes being positioned in parallel chordal planes of successively decreasing extent. In each of the four chordal planes nearest the diametral plane four tubes 25a are also provided but are arranged progressively closer together. In the three succeeding planes pairs of tubes 25b, 25c and 25a each having a width of approximately half that of the chordal plane in which it is located are provided. The partition 5 causes fluid entering the casing at 23 to flow along the casing, then through an opening 24 between the partition 5 and a tubeplate 8 and along the casing to the outlet 22. Inlet and outlet headers 6 and 7 communicating respectively with inlet 17 and outlet 16 are provided at one end of the casing, the other end of which has a cap 12 for effecting communication between the tubes on opposite sides of partition 5. Each tube comprises a pair of dished rectangular plates joined along their edges.
