Abstract

A device is claimed for introducing a thermocouple into a wall (1) in order to determine the temp.. The thermocouple incorporates two conductors (21,22) welded together at one end. The device comprises a pastille (12) in a material with good thermal conductivity and a tubular element (6) supporting the pastille (12) against the wall. At least one of the two conductors (21,22) is brazed at its end onto the pastille (12) and pass through the tubular element (6). The tubular element (6) incorporates a thread (7) cooperating with a corresponding tapping in a recessed orifice (31) in the wall (1), in order to press the pastille (12) against the bottom of the orifice. A continuous casting mould with internal walls incorporating this device for the introduction of a thermocouple is also claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - The device is used for introducing thermocouples into walls, notably those of a continuous casting mould, in order to measure the temp.. The device allows the determn. of the temp. of the wall in a very reliable manner. Maintenance of the device is particularly easy due to the ease with which the thermocouples can be changed. The system has a very low response time. It can be readily applied to existing continuous casting machines without significant modification and allows the introduction of a greater number of thermocouples with the possibility of readily changing their position.
