Abstract

Device for handling and cutting suture threads. The invention relates to a device for handling and cutting suture threads allowing several reels of thread to be grouped on the same support, and various lengths of thread to be cut with one hand. It consists of a support 3 with three separate parts. The first part accommodates the reels of thread. It consists of holes 4 and pins 5. The second part is used to guide 6 and brake 7 the threads coming from the reels. The third part consists of a plane part intended to receive a thread cutter 1 fitted with a double-sided adhesive strip. This thread cutter is intended for single use and is packed in sterile packaging.

Description

SURGICAL WIRE CUTTER AND ITS DEVICE
The object of this invention is to facilitate shearing and handling of sutures in operating rooms. For this purpose. We will describe a disposable thread cutter and a thread spool holder.

The disposable wire cutter consists of a molded support (1) into which a sharp blade (2) is inserted to allow shearing of a wire. The shape of this support is studied in order to avoid accidental cuts. For that. the blade is almost completely covered. Only the passage of the wire is possible. The wire cutter is intended for single use and is packaged in sterile packaging. The support has at its lower part a double-sided adhesive tape allowing it to be fixed almost everywhere (fig. T).

In another version of the invention, the thread cutter previously described is associated with a thread spool holder support (3) (fig. 2). The support consists of three separate parts. The first part receives the reels of resorbable wire or not. Holes (4> with a diameter of 15.2 mm receive the long coils inserted in such a way that the colored plugs allowing the identification of the wires remain visible, and axes c5) with a diameter of 7.5 mm receive flat cattle.

The second part serves as a guide and brake for the wires coming from the coils. The guiding is carried out by holes 6) of 3 mm whose ends are flared. Braking is carried out by these half-srheres /) integral with blades tE) forming a spring otfice and held in place by fixing screws (9). Said half-spheres close the outlet of the guide holes. To facilitate the positioning of the wire, a loading slot (10) is formed on the top opening directly into the guide holes. Said blades protrude above the half-spheres (fig. 2) to facilitate manual release of the guide hole when loading the wire. All this part is offset to the left of the support so that the wires coming from the reels press on the right side of the guide holes and not on the left side, in order to prevent them from entering the loading slots.

The third part is intended to receive the disposable thread cutter described at the beginning of this presentation.

The sole of this reel holder includes a magnetic part allowing it to be fixed securely on any metal part.

Claims (7)

CLAIMS - Device for handling and cutting suture threads, characterized in that it is constituted by a support (31 thread spool holder and thread guide with which is associated a tl thread cutter). 2 - Device according to claim 1 characterized in that the support (3) consists of three separate parts: a part ensuring the support of the wire spools a part ensuring the guidance and braking of said wires and a part ensuring the shearing of these mime sons.  3 - Device according to claims I and 2 characterized in that the first part ensuring the support of son coils is made up of holes (4) of diameter 15.2 mm intended to receive long cylindrical coils and axes (5 ) of diameter T, 5 m intended to receive the flat coils. 4 - Device according to claims 1, 2 and 3 characterized in that the part providing guidance consists of holes (6) of 3 mm diameter flared at both ends. 5 - D device according to any one of claims 1 to 4 characterized in that the part ensuring braking consists of hemispheres (7) closing one of the flared ends of the guide holes. 6 - Device according to any one of claims 1 i 5 characterized in that the said half-spheres is held in place free of elastic means (8) allowing them to move back to allow the passage of the wire. 7 - Device according to any one of claims 1 i 6 characterized in that the guide holes are provided with slots (10) opening upwards from the said support in order to facilitate the loading of the various wires.  n - Salt device according to any one of claims I 7  characterized by the fact that the entire guiding-braking part  is shifted to the left of the support so that the wires  press on the right side of the guide holes.  9- Device according to any one of claims 1 to 6  characterized by the fact that the part ensuring the shearing  st consists of a flat area intended to receive a cut  wire.  10- Device according to any one of claims 1 to  9 characterized in that the rtu-a support sole is  made magnetic to allow it to be fixed on everything  metallic surfaces.  11.- Thread cutter used in the device according to @ '@  any one of claims I to 10, characterized by the fat  that it consists of a molded support (1) in which is  a sharp blade (2), the latter being almost  completely covered by the support material to allow only the passage of the wire.  12.- wire cutter according to claim 11 characterized by the  it is packaged in sterile packaging and is  fitted with double adhesive tape for single use  face for self aiming its fixing on the part ensuring the  device shear.
