Abstract

The invention relates to an orthopedic bandage which is cured by a catalytic free radical polymerization reaction, and the surface of which is coated with a poly (ethylene oxide) resin which improves its initial solidification and workability. It comprises a flexible support carrying a plastering composition comprising a monomer which can be polymerized by a catalyst system by reduction oxidation, eg. a vinyl monomer, solid and soluble in water, such as diacetone acrylamide, N-isopropylacrylamide, or mixtures thereof. The polymerization is initiated by bringing the composition into contact with water in the presence of said catalyst system. The resulting bandage is soft to the touch, conformable, and easy to roll up, unlike similar bandages without polyethylene oxide resin.
