Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé de production de glycol-aldéhyde et d'éthylène-glycol. On fait réagir du formaldéhyde, de l'oxyde de carbone et de l'hydrogène à température et sous pression élevées, en présence d'un catalyseur au rhodium pour former du glycolaldéhyde et à partir de celui-ci dans une seconde étape, on effectue une hydrogénation catalytique pour parvenir à l'éthylène-glycol. Le procédé est sélectif et assure des rendements élevés.The invention relates to a process for the production of glycol-aldehyde and ethylene-glycol. Formaldehyde, carbon monoxide and hydrogen are reacted at elevated temperature and pressure, in the presence of a rhodium catalyst to form glycolaldehyde and from it in a second step, one carries out catalytic hydrogenation to achieve ethylene glycol. The process is selective and ensures high yields.
