Abstract

The passenger coach for town use, with a low floor level, to make it easy for passenger with shopping and perambulators or infirm passengers to board the vehicle, has the engines, gearboxes and transmission slung below the seats in the region between the front and rear wheels, both sides of the vehicle, occupying a space very little wider than the width of the wheels. Also included in these two regions is a suspension system for the rear wheels, with a swinging arm with a large rounded end alongside each wheel hub, with a stub axle extending inwards from it, forming a pivot shaft, the other end of the arm being connected to a crank arm and actuator arrangement controlling its swinging action and for altering the height of the floor.
