Abstract

The ore contacts with an elemental C and Br2 in an entraining gas. The latter contains 1-50V % O2. at 500-1100 degrees C. Specif. the ore is mixed with the elemental carbon and brought into contact with a feed gas contg. Br2, O2 and entraining gas. The resultant gas contains entraining gas, carbon oxides, Fe Br2, Fe, FeBr3 and Br2.
