Abstract
The invention can be used in the ignition and supporting firing of large steam generators, and also in firing plant for glass tank furnaces and rotary cement kilns. The aim and object of the invention is to effect all the operating states of a steam generator exclusively with fuel dust produced on site from raw coal, with the complete replacement of fuel oil and gas. The stocking of fuel, even for first and cold starts, is reduced to a minimum. The object is achieved according to the invention in that before the start-up of a main coal dust burner, an ignition combustion chamber is supplied with fuel dust from a fuel dust bunker and operates as an igniter with a bunched free flame jet reaching into the jet region of the main coal dust burner until fuel dust is produced in the main coal dust mill. This fuel dust is fed partially to the ignition combustion chamber and partially to the main coal dust burner. The ignition combustion chamber is switched off when the main coal dust burner is operating in a sustained and stable manner.
