Abstract

Refinements introduced into a control arrangement for a steam turbine system having a first turbine stage with a first flow valve to control the flow therethrough, a first bypass line with a first bypass valve connected therein through the first turbine stage and the first flow valve, a second turbine stage with a second flow valve to control the flow therethrough, and a second bypass line with a second bypass valve therein connected through the second turbine stage and the second flow valve, and input means that provide an input signal indicating the power needs of the turbine system, characterized in that each of said turbine stages includes means detectors that provide power signals indicating the power output of the respective turbine stage, and comparison means for detecting the difference between the power needs indicated by said input signal and the power output of the respective turbine stage, and to provide a respective error signal indicative thereof, and each of said stages has independent regulation means to adjust the respective flow valve in response to the respective error signal; and independent compensating means for adjusting the respective bypass valve in response to the adjustment of the respective flow valve, for maintaining a minimum desired flow through the bypass lines and turbine stages, and by which means are provided for correlation to monitor the cooperation of the independent turbine flow control means and bypass valve to make adjustments made by said first and second regulating means compensate for non-linearity in the system.
