    - illumination elements (6) of at least one signal generator (4) of the points position and orientation signalling system (2) are activated in response to the detection of the operating action such that, by means of the illumination elements (6) status information (7) related to a set of points (1) is displayed in the form of at least one number, at least one letter and/or at least one other symbol.
  2. Method according to 1,
    characterised in that
    status information (7) identifying a reason for a fault is displayed by means of the illumination elements (6).
  3. Method according to one of the preceding claims,
    characterised in that
    the status information (7) related to the set of points (1) is displayed by means of illumination elements (6) in the form of LEDs.
  4. Method according to one of the preceding claims,
    characterised in that
    the operating action is detected by means of an operating device in the form of a pushbutton, a key button, a key switch and/or a read device for transponders.
  5. Control device for actuating a points position and orientation signalling system (2) assigned to a set of points (1), wherein
    the control device is embodied such that illumination elements (6) of at least one signal generator (4) of the points position and orientation signalling system (2) are actuated in response to the detection of an operating action such that status information (7) related to a set of points (1) is displayed by means of the illumination elements (6) in the form of at least one number, at least one letter and/or at least one other symbol.
  6. Control device according to claim 5,
    characterised in that
    the control device is embodied to actuate the illumination elements (6) of the at least one signal generator (4) such that status information (7) identifying the reason for a fault is displayed by means of the illumination elements (6).
  7. Arrangement with
    - a control device according to one of claims 5 or 6 and
    - the points position and orientation signalling system (2) assigned to the set of points (1).
  8. Arrangement according to claim 7,
    characterised in that
    the illumination elements (6) actuated by the control device are embodied as LEDs.
  9. Arrangement according to claim 7 or 8,
    characterised in that
