Abstract

The fastening consists of at least one strap (3) situated in the instep zone of the boot, made with a supple and flexible padding (6) on the boot side of the strap. The padding is designed to distribute the pressure from the strap against the instep so that the central pressure zone corresponding to the position of the big toe tendon is lower that the lateral pressure on either side of it. The strap's pressure distribution is achieved by having a central recess in the padding and thicker portions on either side of it to create a space for the tendon. The thicker portions are ovoid in shape, with their tips towards the central recess so that they conform to the ergonomic shape of the instep. The padding can be made from materials of different densities, with a lower density material in the middle of the strap which is able to compress to absorb the tendon, produced e.g. by moulding or sewing a foam material inside a flexible sleeve.
