Description

Process for the production of absorbent papers and other pulp bodies made from frozen pulp. When shredding pulp in the presence from water! for the production of paper, absorbent bodies, etc., pulp slime forms, partial sticking, which is not always desirable, when the pulp mass is dried which brings about fibers. This sticking-is unfavorable for the filterability of paper, for the absorbency of pulp bodies and similar objects made of cellulose, which requires the highest levels of wettability, absorbency and permeability for liquids. But if you let the pulp slime or the pulp slime freeze containing pulp in the molded or unshaped state and if you make sure that it stays frozen until it is completely dry, then: any sticking of the fibers is completely prevented and pulp products are obtained of the highest absorbency and permeability for liquids.

The new method differs from the known method for the production of absorbent papers from frozen pulp mass in that the Freezing process is carried out during the entire drying period it has been taken as a matter of course up to now that the freezing process should be interrupted, as soon as the paper pulp has dried, usually at an elevated temperature Begins. In the meantime, interrupt the freezing process while drying has not yet ended or she still has. has not started, then .this through the aim of the new procedure is not achieved. Any time, if only for a short time Continuous thawing while drying allows the Fibers. This is done to a particularly damaging degree; noticeable in pulp and it is the earlier experience (see e.g. the German patent specification 95961, para. 2) in accordance with the fact that pulp for processing according to the freezing method is not suitable at all. In contrast, it has now been found that pulp according to the new method can be used with the same success as any other cellulose, -so z. B. Peat. The relatively large absorbency of the peat can be increased significantly in the aforementioned way.

To make the pulp products less sensitive to mechanical attack To make them, you can use paraffin, shellac, etc. in their fibers in a known manner soak.

Claims (1)

PATENT CLAIM: A method for producing absorbent papers and other cellulose bodies from frozen cellulose pulp, characterized in that the cellulose pulp is allowed to dry in the frozen state before or after shaping.
