Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Compensated suspension device for vehicles with double rear wheels.
This invention relates to vehicles such as six-wheeled vehicles, the rear of which is supported by two pairs of wheels by means of springs coupled so that the load is distributed over the two pairs of wheels.
Devices of this type are already known in which the springs of the two pairs of wheels are connected together by compensating balances, but these devices have the drawback only if the axles of the two pairs of wheels are close enough. 'one on the other to perform their function properly, the springs no longer have the required length to give a good suspension and if they are lengthened the axles of the two pairs of wheels must be spread further apart.
The object of the present invention is to obviate this drawback by allowing the use of sufficiently long springs.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
without having to increase the axle spacing.
For this purpose, the invention essentially consists in arranging the springs of one of the pairs of wheels at a sufficiently large distance from the chassis of the vehicle so that the springs of the wheels of the other pair can extend between the former and the chassis. The adjacent ends of the two springs on each side of the frame are thus placed side by side and can be given any desired length without interfering with each other.
These ends of the springs can be coupled by means of binoculars or pivots to a pendulum pivoting on an axis carried by a solid support of the chassis of the vehicle, the ends of this pendulum being offset in order to be able to play in parallel vertical planes.
The accompanying drawings show schematically by way of example one embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front elevational view.
Fig. 2 a view taken from above of the two juxtaposed springs, and
Fig. 3 is a view of the balance on a larger scale. in these figures the spring of one of the axles and the spring 1 of the other axle are respectively fixed to the frame at d and. ± * The free ends of these springs are linked together by a -balance 1 oscillating on an axis carried by a console to the chassis c by means of two binoculars j.
The balance 1 is off-axis as can be seen better on the pin 3 to achieve the crossed coupling of the two springs, as can be seen in FIG. 1 this arrangement of the springs allows the desired approximation of the axles without requiring a detrimental shortening of the springs.
@
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The balance wheel can obviously be placed above the springs and other construction modifications can be made to the arrangement shown without departing from the scope of the invention.
