LINDENHURST, NY — Lindenhurst residents have spoken.
The Lindenhurst Union Free School District's proposed 2023 to 2024 proposed budget of $185,302,256 and a tax levy increase of 2.30 percent — passed by with a 1,454 votes for "yes" and 834 votes for "no."
In addition to the budget, residents decided on a voter advisory proposition.

The action asked whether the Board of Education should increase the maximum income for eligibility for both the Real Property Tax Exemption for Persons with Disabilities and Limited Incomes and the Real Property Tax Exemption for Persons Age 65 and Older up to $58,400, the maximum allowable amount under New York State Law.
The proposition passed with 1,502 votes for "yes" and 745 votes for "no."

The results of this voter advisory proposition are nonbinding. Any increase to the maximum income for eligibility for these tax exemptions would need to be considered and approved by the Board of Education through Board resolution.
For the race of Board of Education, seven candidates vyed for four positions. The results are as follows:
- Gabrielle Anzalone (incumbent) won with 1,160 votes against challenger Patricia Enright, who received 1,008 votees.
- Michael J. DiGiuseppe (incumbent) ran unopposed and obtained 1,659 votes.
- Claire McKeon won with 1,172 votes against Janine Egan, who obtained 986 votes. The position was held by Kevin R. Garbe
- Josephine Martino (incumbent) won with 1,258 votes against challenger Jacquelyn Herig, who received 974 votes.
