10 o'clock pm and the first car arrives.  The beauty queens have landed.  The scene is set for an event like no other.  The Red Carpet has been rolled out and the spotlight is turned to bright!  Waiting patiently behind the red velvet ropes are tiny, bright-eyed queens in the making hoping for their chance to glimpse their favorite crowned beauty.  Squeals are audible and clapping follows.
They made it!

2011 Miss Louisiana herself, Hope Anderson, leads the procession down the red carpet waving to the adoring 50 plus fans waiting patiently on their arrival.  Camera crews and photographers are perched in the perfect place to capture the perfect moment as it happens.  Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt in Monroe was the place and the Miss Louisiana Pageant contestants, along with their 14 hostesses were the honored guests at the 2nd annual Red Carpet event.  Each contestant wore a specially designed Orange Leaf/Miss Louisiana shirt made especially for this event.  And, if that wasn't enough, there was even yet another surprise.  A GLOW party.  Orange Leaf Monroe turned their party room into a BlackLight wonderland with glow-in-the-dark tape, posters, lights, and glow sticks for days!  Bandanas and Tiaras that glowed were a few of the accessories that were given out for the guest to enjoy! Glow in the Dark Face-Painting was offered to each guest as an added FUN element and Hula Hoops that created a GLOW circle were a HIT!

REALLY? Who needs that many ties?

There are so many Father's quotes out there, because in our book, Father's are the gentle giants of the Family.  Always taking care of the family, but really asking for nothing in return.

Ready to leap at his sons pleading to play baseball in the back yard, or EVEN the dreaded barbie doll tea party. He does these things with a smile on his face and a skip in his step, without even thinking twice about it as these are not chores to him, every moment with his kids is a bonding moment, they are after all the loves of his lives.  This time is fleeting, and most importantly, it will be THESE very moment that his child will look back on with warm DADDY memories from their childhood.

So, today, if you went out to eat with your Daddy, Grandfather, or are lucky enough to have a Great Gradfather (bring in the 4 generations to the Leaf and we will take you picture for our Facebook page)! Tell them what they mean to you.  That would be the greatest Father's Day ever!

So, Happy Father's Day out there to all you Fathers, Pops, Papas, PaPaw, Daddys, Granddaddy, Poppie, Grandfathers, Pop Docs, and Pappy!

We hope your day was full of Daddy TIME!  Maybe, your kids might have even brought you to the LEAF!  You receive 50% off your Freaux Yeaux today! (another memory)

Self named, the cutest blog on the block, "The Polka Dotted Passageway" was very informed on the Orange Leaf steps (Grab a Cup, Fill it Up, Toppings, Weigh and Pay!) and as a sidenote, also like MONKEYS!  https://polkadottedpassageway.blogspot.com/

Orange Leaf EXPRESS

This week, OLYLA, LLC opened another Louisiana Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt location in Lafayette.  This store is the ninth location opened under the OLYLA flag, but is unlike any of the previous stores.  Most Orange Leaf stores are located in retail centers in residential areas of their respective towns and average 1800 square feet in size.   The Lafayette store is in the heart of the University of Louisiana Lafayette campus and is 400 square feet.  Due to the size constraints, this store will have only 3 yogurt machines as opposed to the normal 8.  That means 6 flavors on the wall versus 16 and very frequent flavor changes.  This means if your favorite flavor is not on the wall, check tomorrow and there's a good chance it will be up!  OLYLA stores  typically have seating for 25-35 people and plenty of room for disco dancing.  The UL store has no seating and will service walk up customers.  We are referring to this as "ORANGE LEAF EXPRESS".

This express model opens up an entirely new market for Orange Leaf which hopefully can be repeated throughout the country on other college campuses.  This opening is exciting because it is the first outside business to open on campus in a long time.  New dorms, new student union, growing attendance, and the school's recent victory in the New Orleans Bowl are all reasons for the positive feelings.  Throw in a new Orange Leaf, and the fall semester can't get here soon enough.

Southern Living recently named Lafayette the "Tastiest Town in the South" and now Orange Leaf is a part of Lafayette!  So, next time you are in UL's neighborhood, take a walk through campus, and enjoy the hundred year old live oaks and the only living swamp on a college campus in the United States.  When you get through watching the gators eat dinner, you can stop in to Orange Leaf and get a snack before you hit the rest of Lafayette's hot spots!
