Synopsis

Kagome Higurashi's ordinary life comes to an abrupt halt when a demon drags her deep into a well, transporting her five hundred years into the past. In this era, Kagome quickly learns two things: demons walk amongst humans and she has unknowingly brought a dangerous object from her world—a marble-sized sphere known as the Shikon Jewel. This unusual orb brings tremendous power to any demon who has it in their possession, and Kagome is an easy target for anyone determined enough to steal it.

While in a fight with a demon, a hasty attempt to fend it off causes Kagome to accidentally shatter the jewel, sending countless pieces of it all over feudal Japan. She soon learns the grave consequences of her actions when she must work with the half-demon Inuyasha to collect all the pieces of the jewel before they fall into the wrong hands.

Background

InuYasha won the 47th Shogakukan Manga Award in the Shounen category in 2001.

The series was published in English by VIZ Media as Inu-Yasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale from July 6, 1998, to January 11, 2011. In this version, the manga was relabeled as InuYasha from volume 12 onwards, and the first 37 volumes were in left-to-right format but all later volumes were printed in traditional Japanese format. It was republished in 3-in-1 omnibuses under the Shonen Sunday VIZBIG imprint from November 10, 2009, to February 11, 2014. It was also released in Spain by Glénat España; and in Brazilian Portuguese by Editora JBC in 112 volumes from August 2002 to July 2009. The first 12 volumes were released in Argentina by LARP Editores before discontinuing publication. The first 23 volumes were released in Polish by Egmont from October 2004 to February 2011; Japonica Polonica Fantastica has republished the series since May 10, 2021.

Every so often a manga series comes along that the average reader will find daunting for one reason or another. It may be that the scope of the story is too great, or the number of chapters may be too large, or the drawing style may not be to taste, or some other reason entirely. Whatever the case may be, there are many out there who will be put off reading a manga for one reason or another.

That said, there is sometimes justification for not even starting a manga, especially as there are those that really can't cut the mustard.

And then there's the ones ...

Mixed Feelings
Spoiler
A very interesting series with good likeable characters. Reading it with Mallsoft music in the background gives a very nostalgic feeling.

HOWEVER (light spoilers), the final part of the manga (starting at about chapter 300-400) ultimately gets VERY boring. The protagonists have a lot of possibilities to kill (or at least, neutralize) the villain, but he just WON'T DIE ! It just feels like the author became a coward who couldn't innovate and bring new fresh villains for the series, instead opting for the same thing again and again without taking risks. In the end, it just became very frustrating for the reader.

To conclude : up ...

Preliminary (319/558 eps)
the only 2 reasons i wanted to read this manga were:
1. i like rumiko takahashi.
2. inuyasha has dog ears.
since i loved ranma and i've laughed a lot in this manga, so why not try this too?

the story starts nice- a girl falls into a well and finds a boy with doggy ears and because of an accident she has to team up with him and they fall in love.
the story is fine and it has 56 volumes, so what is it filled with?
the basics of every single story is: kagome is in danger, inuyasha saves her at the last minute. again- kagome is in ...
