Synopsis

As technology advanced, humanity gradually colonized the entire solar system, occupying planetary facilities from Mercury to Pluto. This results in a large-scale athletic tournament, the "Daiundoukai," where several aspiring female athletes from all around the solar system compete. The winner of the tournament is crowned the "Cosmo Beauty," obtaining a queenlike status.

When outgoing potato farmer Kanata Akehoshi was a child, she witnessed a meteor-like object falling from the sky, crashing in a nearby forest. When she came to investigate the wreckage, she saw a damaged spaceship and a girl who seemed to have been in it weakened by the impact. The girl gave Kanata two wristbands, alongside a request that Kanata join the Daiundoukai and become the Cosmo Beauty. Kanata obliged, but before she could ask for the girl's name, she mysteriously disappeared—leaving nothing, not even the crater caused by the crash. Since then, Kanata has devoted herself to training, aiming to fulfill her promise.

After winning the qualifying round to represent the planet Earth, Kanata goes to the University Satellite—an institution where she and other candidates study to prepare themselves for the upcoming competition. There, she meets and befriends her fellow competitors, helping them get along with each other to perform better in the games. As Kanata grows closer to the coveted title, so do her chances of meeting the girl who changed her fate—and she discovers an underlying mystery behind the Daiundoukai along the way.

Mixed Feelings
The words to describe this anime is mediocre and messed up.
First of all, am I the only one who noticed the very Cardcaptor Sakura like sequence in the OP? The running and wings and flying?

And second, this is seriously reminding me of Kanata no Astra.

The storyline is confused. Not confusing, CONFUSED. They took the time to put in some major issues, conflict and even all powerful villains, but it's as if they didn't know what to really persue, so they put in a bit of everything, which would wonderfully be solved by the power of FRIENDSHIP. UGH.

I'm not saying I don't like friendship. I'm saying ...

Spoiler
This is marked spoiler as a technicality. Personally I believe I spoiled nothing as the plot point addressed is so heavily hinted at anyone could figure it out but it is revealed on the last episode so I figured better safe than sorry. If you're worried about major story elements being revealed in this review don't be.

My friend asked me to review this series because he was upset he couldn’t find a review of it by anyone who had any prior experience with the franchise and he knew I liked the original series. I watched the series for me, but this review is ...

This show is truly the epitome of hot garbage.

A reboot of the 1997-1998 original Battle Athletes Victory (that's why it's called ReSTART!), but with the fact that everything in here is unlikeable, from the insanely stupid story and plot that even a young kid today can muster a story far better than this, the easy-going characters, to the worse-than-subpar animation and visuals that are done by a studio which mainly does Hentai adapations for a living.

That's your TL;DR of this show, easy to buy, easy to own, easy as Dell.

The decent thing I can say is the music, definitely reeks of that nostalgic feel.

But ...
