The Department of Pathology at the University of Utah School of Medicine offers an ACGME-accredited two-year fellowship program in Neuropathology. One position is available on an annual basis. Experience is provided at the University of Utah Hospital, Huntsman Cancer Institute, Primary Children’s Hospital, and the Office of the Medical Examiner.
This fellowship is designed to give the fellows a broad experience in diagnostic neuropathology, with emphasis on surgical neuropathology but also with exposure to autopsy, forensic and neuromuscular neuropathology. A diverse patient population, as well as an active consultation service provides ample volumes of material, as well as a large diversity of diagnoses.
The overall goal of the fellowship is to provide in-depth exposure to neuropathology with our faculty, Dr. Qinwen Mao (Director of Neuropathology), Dr. Andrew Guajardo (Forensic Medical Examiner), Dr. Missia Kohler (Assistant Professor of Pathology), Dr. Nick Mamalis (Director of Ocular Pathology), Dr. Cheryl Palmer (Professor Emeritus of Pathology), and Dr. Changhong Xing (Assistant Professor of Pathology).
