SEOUL, Nov. 29 (Yonhap) -- Actor Jung Woo-sung made an appearance at the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards on Friday amid a week of controversy and widespread public attention following the revelation that he had fathered a child out of wedlock.
Jung took the stage alongside actor Hwang Jung-min to announce their political drama, "12.12: The Day," as the year's most-watched film. Since its release last November, the movie has attracted over 13 million viewers, making it the ninth-biggest movie in terms of audience numbers. Jung was also nominated for Best Actor for his role in the film.
His appearance had been the subject of speculation, with many wondering if it would overshadow the awards ceremony.
"I am on this stage today, hoping my personal matter does not cast a shadow over this film," he said, appearing visibly tense. "I sincerely apologize to everyone who has supported and believed in me for causing disappointment and concern."
On Sunday, his agency confirmed Jung is the father of model Moon Ga-bi's son, two days after the model revealed she had given birth but withheld the father's identity, sparking speculation she might raise the child outside of marriage.
In her post, she described the pregnancy as "unexpected" and shared that she had quietly prepared for motherhood with the support of her family.
During the speech, Jung reaffirmed his commitment to his son. "I will fulfill my responsibilities as a father until the end," he said.
