Poetry, nomine Poetry: A Magazine of Verse rite conditum,[1] Sicagi Illinoesiae ex 1912 emissum, est unum ex maioribus poesis periodicis menstruis in mundo Anglico prolatis. Magazina, a Societate Fundata Poesis prolata hodieque a Donaldo Share edita, 30 000 fere subscriptores habet, et plus quam trecenta poemata per annum ex circa centum milibus submissionum profert.[2][3] Magazina effectum ex 2003 per legatum $200 millionum a Ruta Lilly donatum habuit.
Historia
[recensere | fontem recensere]Magazina anno 1912 ab Harrietta Monroe condita est, auctore quae tum operam Chicago Tribune ut criticus artium dabat, cum scriberet:
Ostium apertum erit propositum huius magazinae—id inveniat numquam magnus poeta quem petimus clausum aut semiclausum, contra eius ingenium amplum! Ad hoc consilium, editores sperant ut societates cum ulla classi vel schola singula implicantes defugere poterunt. Optimos imprimere volunt versus Anglicos qui hodie componuntur, ubi, a quo, vel secundum quandam artis doctrinam concipiatur neglegentes. Nec promittet magazina suas adnotationes editoriales in unam opinionum copiam definituras.[4]
Poetry, "primo decennio post conditum, facta est principale poesis modernae mundi Anglici instrumentum."[5] "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock," primum T. S. Eliot poema professionaliter prolatum, in Poetry prolatum est, ab Ezra Pound, uno ex primis contributoribus et scriptore peregrino, commendatum. Magazina prima H. D., Roberti Frost, Langston Hughes, Ednae Sancti Vincentii Millay, et Mariannae Moore opera protulit. Praeterera, Gwendolyn Brooks, Iacobum Merrill, Ioannem Ashbery, multosque poetas alios invenit.[2]
Inter contributores notabiles fuerunt Gulielmus Butler Yeats, Rabindranath Tagore, Gulielmus Carolus Williams, Joyce Kilmer, Carolus Sandburg, Carlotta Wilder, Robertus Creeley,[6] Wallace Stevens,[7] Basil Bunting, Yone Noguchi, Carolus Rakosi, Dorothea Richardson, Petrus Viereck, Ludovicus Zukofsky, Carolus Reznikoff, E. E. Cummings, Franciscus O'Hara, Allen Ginsberg, Ernestus Hemingway, Iacobus Joyce, Geretrudis Stein, et Tennessee Williams.[8] Magazina fuit instrumentum maximi momenti in historia imagismi et obiectivismi, maiorum motuum poeticorum saeculi vicensimi.
