Since they can be developed to satisfy application constraints like surface, speed and energy while responding to Time-to-market requirements. In this paper, we explore the impact of T-VPack and First Choice (FC) clustering algorithms on the performance of Multilevel Switch Boxes (MS) FPGA with Long Wires (LWs). Indeed, the performance of an FPGA is highly sensitive to the mapping of Logic Blocks (LBs) on FPGA architecture. This work shows that FC ameliorates power consumption, area, critical path delay and energy compared to T-VPack.

In recent years, Water Pipeline Monitoring (WPM) has attracted attention worldwide due to the necessity to minimize water production costs as well as to protect public safety. Therefore, a great deal of research work has tried to propose approach to water leak detection. In this paper, we propose a novel solution based on soil moisture sensors and Arduino MEGA as a microcontroller. Varieties of different leak scenarios were performed during the experimental trials and leaks in different places were examined. The results show that the proposed solution is able to work stably to detect and locate the leak.

The presented architecture facilitates connectivity to an ARM compatible host processor, high-speed intellectual property (IP) cores and slower peripherals using industry standard advanced microcontroller bus architecture. The system consist of standard set of peripherals, such as clock generator, real time clock, a watchdog timer, an interrupt controller, programmable I/O, I2C Host, SPI master, UARTs, trusted platform module, NAND flash controller and USB controllers. Third party 2D/3D graphics engine, audio/video encoder-decoder, wireless network controller IPs are also integrated to provide a complete platform architecture for the development of mobile computing devices.

A large number of these applications use sensitive data that require securing algorithms. In this paper, we present a comprehensive survey on the most commonly used security techniques in wireless sensor networks. In this survey, we also present the different implementations on numerous platforms used to realize these security algorithms with special attention to power consumption. Based upon our findings, we propose the main characteristics and parts of a new solution to realize a low power wireless sensor node with high level of security.

This system enables to test our water pipeline monitoring system in real world. The proposed setup provides us with an insight understanding of the physical behavior of the system. The testbed consists of two components: a water distribution laboratory setup and a wireless sensor node prototype to gather data from sensors and send it to a base station. In this paper, we give an overview of the distribution system components including pipes, valves, taps, sensors, nodes, etc. We also, illustrate the deployment, usage and the operation mode of a typical sensor node for leak detection.

Reducing power consumption requires the development of System on-Chip (SoC) implementations that provide both energy efficiency and adequate performance. In this paper, we propose an architecture of SoC based on ARM processor in low power consumption. The proposed architecture is based on interfacing hardware accelerators with software applications for routing protocol. We mapped each peripheral of the proposed architecture to the Nexys4 platform and we executed experimental tests to evaluate the system performance. The measurements demonstrate that the proposed architecture reduce the energy consumption by more than 60%, saves up to 40% of the execution time and does not consume many resources.

Thus, there is a strong interest in developing energy efficient transmission techniques. In this paper, we present a new approach to minimize the energy consumption of clustered wireless sensor networks, while achieving the required level of reliability. We consider clusters where sensors transmit monitored data to nearby cluster-head using cooperative communication. The goal of our approach is to minimize the transmit power energy based on Bit Error Probability (BEP) criterion for selective digital relaying (SDR) schemes whose closed form expression was recently derived in previous works. Therefore, the proposed scheme can efficiently allocate the least transmission power among the source and the relays that satisfy the predefined level of reliability while decreasing the energy consumption of the node. Simulation results show that our relay selection algorithm achieves significant energy savings (more than 50% compared with direct transmissions for moderate SNR values and up to 90% in high SNR regions).
