Christian Stary received his Diploma degree in computer science from the Vienna University of Technology, Austria, in 1984, his Ph.D. degree in usability engineering, and also his Habilitation degree from the Vienna University of Technology, Austria, in 1988 and 1993, respectively. As full Professor of Business Information Systems with the University of Linz current research interests include the area of interactive distributed systems, with a strong focus on emergent systems engineering in the fields of learning support and explication technologies for personal capacity building and organizational development.

We investigate how facilitators can become triggers and drivers of developing PjBL in a knowledge-based and participatory way for all involved stakeholders in an institutional (learning) setting. The developed and presented instrument which contextualizes value transactions among the networked PjBL stakeholders through empirical PjBL evidence. PjBL success factors and guidelines for effective PjBL frame Value Network Analyses. The demonstrator has been tested in a master course in Business Informatics on Digital Twin generation. Besides the proof of concept, the feasibility of continuous advancements through facilitator participation along individually organized development steps could be demonstrated.

Although many organizations operate in a process-driven way, few members are skilled in specifyin... more Although many organizations operate in a process-driven way, few members are skilled in specifying and developing business processes-a skill that has become crucial for organization development, in particular to establish agile enterprises. This paper shows, on the basis of natural language constructs (subject, predicate, object) and communication patterns between actors (subjects), how individual members of an organization could contribute to coherent and intelligible process specifications. A language and tool supporting Subject-oriented Business Process Management (S-BPM) are introduced, allowing organizations to cope with strategic and operational challenges dynamically. As many organizations already work with BPM concepts and technologies, existing approaches to process modelling are also revisited with respect to representing natural language constructs and standard sentence syntax. Since most of them refer either to subjects, predicates, objects or to a respective combination, a roadmap can be developed for enriching existing modelling approaches. In doing so, organizations can benefit from stakeholder inputs for effective business process engineering re-using existing specifications. They need to adapt at the stakeholder level to changing needs albeit increasing their operational efficiency and effectiveness (cf. [6, 18]). In order for flexible operation to be addressed accurately, management and stakeholders have to work on the associated processes [10]. They depend on the particular business objectives set by the enterprise and affect strategic, tactical and operational issues [45]. Business process specifications have to be tailored by participating parties to the specific situation at hand. Of particular importance are the intuitiveness of the notation and coherence of the modelling language. The first addresses the semantic distance to human understanding. It should be minimal, in the sense that it requires minimal cognitive effort to understand and communicate the represented information-organizational design is a good deal negotiating (cf. [22]). When reflecting and redesigning the focus is on business process models and their specification, according to their nature as 'boundary objects' [5]: 'Boundary objects not only help to clarify the attitudes of other communities, they can also make a community's own presuppositions apparent to itself, encouraging reflection, and second loop learning.' As such, processes should be not only intelligible to all stakeholders involved in work procedures, but also to organization and technology developers [1]. Game-playing as an effective learning resource for elderly people: encouraging experiential adoption of touchscreen technologies

Elderly people often struggle to keep up with digital advancements, particularly given the fast p... more Elderly people often struggle to keep up with digital advancements, particularly given the fast pace of such developments and the increasing need to interact with novel devices in everyday life. To include elderly people in ongoing socio-technological developments, we aim to overcome the barriers to learning and adoption such older adults may face. In this contribution, we set the methodological stage for an interactive game-playing approach using touchscreen tablets. By using games in learning settings, we encourage elderly people in digital adoption and skill development. In a first study, a video analysis of game-playing sessions and active learning support were performed. Although approaches that combine game-playing with learning could encourage elderly people to become an integral part of a technologically advancing society, the facilitation of interaction processes in individual and collective gaming seems to be crucial. We report on the performed field study and provide methodological suggestions for investigating digital media adoption.

To model organizational changes in cooperative but distributed problem solving environments, it i... more To model organizational changes in cooperative but distributed problem solving environments, it is not necessary to only represent activities and knowledge concerning particular agents, but also the constraints for successful collaboration among agents, concerning mainly the atailability of common knowledge and cooperative task accomplishment. The usability of such models mostly depends on their ability to describe communication events occurring in multiagent environments. Hence, a formal communication model is enhanced with adaptation capabilities to capture organizational changes in cooperative problem solving environments. The model meets the appropriate level of abstraction not only for the specification of the communication among a dispersed set of agents, but also for concurrent common, but distributed knowledge, and related (a)synchronous eients. 1. INTRODUCTION Cooperative distributed problem solving is mainly based on communication among agents [2], [4], [SI, [9], [lo], [12], [Ih], [24]. [25], [MI, [46]. In addition, agents do, not only rely on shared and private knowledge (bases) supporting cooperative decision making [7], [ 1 I], [ 191. [26]. [30]. [46]. but also on the organization of work that heavily determines the success of collaborative problem solving [h], [20], [24], [32].
