Theme incorporation
You explore an ancient ruins to find "The Dance Master" and along the way you encounter horrors that you must beat using your rhythm skills. All assets were from the Unity Asset store either through free packs or packs I had previously paid for. All code was written by myself in golang using https://raylib.com. Game design and level design was done by my 7 year old son.

Cool little crawler! The movement and turning are well done, the rythm mechanic for combat is unique and a breath of fresh air, the enemy graphics are charming.

I think on one of the fights I didn't hit enough notes to kill the enemy and I just got stuck on the combat with it because no more notes were coming across the screen. This could be fixed along with maybe some feedback when hitting the notes (damage indicator, enemy animation etc). The turning was a bit slow and the dungeon itself was a bit bland.

Overall a solid entry! I'd love to see more!

Nice game.

It was fun to have some beat combat music thingy solution. Levels are plain but works. Its easy to get lost. It would be nice to see a target for how many hits that is left in the combat screen and or hits or misses. I played it by pressing the buttons when the icons reached the Line, but I missed once and think it might have been triggered far before it reached the line, not sure.

Good Job!

Amazing work! I know you watched the stream but here it is if you want to watch it again :D https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2112464809?t=02h06m35s

I had a blast with this one. I would absolutely play a version with more party members and weapons that adjust the rhythm game itself.

Thanks for sharing it!

Interesting take on the genre!  I am not sure why I died, but that's okay...

Quite enjoyable. The rhythm battles worked pretty well (although I feel like the first combat song was just a smidge off-beat? It seemed like if I timed my button presses exactly to the beat they were a little late), and I really liked the second song - I can tell you put a little effort into the patterns.

The level design was quite good - coloring different sections different colors really helped with navigation, and I managed to find my way through without ever even needing a map!

I actually played through twice, because I forgot to hit the record button the first time, but here's my second playthrough for you to watch:

I won´t rate this game, as the windows version came after the jam, right? But checking out the windows version it seems to be a fine game. The graphics are simple, but plesant and the sprites actually are quite nice. The dance battles work as intended and fit the music. Just one problem, can the game be switched to fullscreen, as it is in a very small window. Kudos for using Raylib.

Developer

Hey @DamienDe - Thanks for playing.  The windows version was uploaded with Zooperdan's permissions because its the exact same copy as the mac version - I just didn't know how to cross compile for windows using raylib.

Oh great, then I can leave a rating, excellent. Thanks for clearing that up :)

I have found him deep in the ruins. I think I got something like 54 coins, explored a big part of the first half but eventually only a small part of the second one. I mapped the first half with pen an paper until I found the map, that was fun, the map is quite a big.

The game is great! Movement feels good, on small details I liked the camp sound. I know it's not an uncommon one but I really like the font you used. The dungeon is cool with quite some hidden passages for extra coins and the combat system works well, it was sastfying fighting these higher hp enemies in the end which would bring you further away in the song.

Since you can rest at will anyway I felt the combat could have been a bit harder for my taste.

Excellent entry, thanks for sharing.

Always fun to see games not made in one of the normal big engines. Enjoyed the idea of a Rhythm mini-game as the combat mechanic, I think expanding on that could be really interesting.

As soon as I saw this was Mac-only, I knew I had to give it a rating (because there probably aren't a lot of other Mac users around here). The rhythm-game mechanic for combat is pretty unusual and I didn't know how I'd feel, but it really works actually, feels like stabbing and blocking. It is unfortunate that the doors and chests are just untextured cubes; even just as placeholder assets, it would make a big difference to at least give them a wood texture.

I wish I could try this, but unfortunately I don't have a (working) Mac.

I'm going to try and build a windows compatible version tonight.

Mac only so I can't play it but the screenshots look nice! Interesting idea to incorporate rhythm as the fighting mechanic.

Thanks for checking this out.  I'm going to try and build a windows compatible version tonight.
