How to Draw A Fire Truck – Let’s Get Started!

Step 1

To kick start this guide on how to draw a fire truck, we shall start with some fairly basic shapes. You would definitely benefit from using a ruler for this step!

It would also be a good idea to use a pencil for now, as you will be drawing extra elements onto the truck later.

You can draw two rectangular shapes near each other to form the two sections of the fire truck.

The square on the left will have a slight slope at the upper left-hand corner for the windscreen of the truck.

There will also be a small bump shape at the upper corners of the one on the right. Once you have it looking like the reference image, you can move on to step two.

Step 2 – Start adding more elements onto the truck

Let’s add some more details to your fire truck drawing in this second step. First, draw a circle underneath each of the two sections of the truck to add the wheels.

You’ll be glad if you used a pencil in the previous step, as these wheels will go over the line on the bottom.

Then, connect the two sections of the truck at the bottom with two lines. You can draw two small rounded shapes on top of the first section of the truck for some lights.

Finally, you can add a long, thin shape above the truck to represent the ladder being stored there. Then you can add some rounded square shapes at the front and back of the truck for the bumpers.

Step 3 – Now, keep adding some more details and elements

We will be adding some more elements in this step of our guide on how to draw a fire truck. First, draw another long, thin shape above the one from the previous step to create more of the ladder.

Then, you can add more lines between the two sections of the firetruck to complete the middle section of the truck. Finally, draw some curved lines over the wheels for the mudguards above them.

As you can see in the reference image, there are some more small details you can add to areas like the bumper.

Step 4 – Next, finish the ladder and wheels

In this part of your fire truck drawing, you will be finishing off some details on the ladder and wheels of the truck.

First, draw a series of short lines between the two thin shapes that you drew above the truck. That will finish off the ladder nicely!

Then, draw two smaller circles within the wheels to finish off their detailing.

Then, finish off this step by adding a few more small line details throughout the truck before we add the final details in the next step.

Step 5 – Finish off the final details of your fire truck drawing

You’ll be able to break out your favorite coloring mediums very soon, but before you do that we shall add some final details for this part of our guide on how to draw a fire truck.

The main aspect of this step is to add some windows to the truck. First, you can draw three equally sized squares on the back section of the truck.

Then you can draw two windows on the front section, then have a thin rectangle right at the front of the truck for the windshield.

Finally, add some lines for the grill at the front of the truck. Before you move on to the final step, be sure to add any details that you would like!

You could draw a background or even draw some firemen to go with the truck. What extra details can you think of for your drawing?

Step 6 – Finish off your fire truck drawing with some color

Now that your fire truck drawing is almost complete, you can have some fun coloring it in! Fire trucks are known for their bright, red coloring, so that gives you a great excuse to use some beautifully vibrant colors.

As you can see in our reference image, we went with a nice, muted red for our fire truck.

Even if you stick with a typical red color scheme, there are ways that you can incorporate more varied colors into the mix.

Some ways you could do this would be to color in any extra details and background details that you added. You can also choose which art mediums will best suit what you want for your drawing.

If you want more vibrant colors then some acrylic paints, colored pens or markers are your best best. On the other hand, watercolors and colored pencils would be good for a more muted, classic look.

We can’t wait to see what you choose!
