Charles Dadi Umeha Onyeama (26 Afrilu 1916 - 5 Satumba 1999) ya kasance Alkalin Kotun Koli ta Najeriya,[1] Alkalin Najeriya na farko a Kotun Duniya,[2] kuma mahaifin Ministan Harkokin Waje na Najeriya, Geoffrey Onyeama, kuma marubuci. Dillib Onyeama.[3] Shi ne kuma kakan ƙwararren ɗan wasan rugby, Andrew Onyeama Christie.
Rayuwar farko da ilimi
[gyara sashe | gyara masomin]An haifi Charles Onyeama a Enugu Afrilu 26,1916 ("a hukumance" da aka jera ba daidai ba kamar yadda a ranar ga watan Agusta 1917). Ya kasance ɗan Cif Onyeama na Eke, mai iko mai mulki a yankin Agbaja na kasar Igbo.[4] Onyeama ya fara koyarwa a makarantar gwamnati da ke Bonny kuma ya yi karatunsa na sakandare a Kwalejin King da ke Legas. Daga baya ya halarci Kwalejin Achimota da ke Ghana; Kwalejin Jami'ar, London; kuma ya karanta don digiri a Kwalejin Brasenose, Oxford, daga shekarun 1940 zuwa 1941.[5][6] Ya zama memba na Lincoln's Inn. [gyara sashe | gyara masomin]A shekarar 1944, ya zama mataimaki na gundumar Legas, sannan ya yi aiki a majalisar dokoki daga shekarun 1944 zuwa 1946. Bayan an naɗa shi Babban Majistare a shekarar 1952, ya zama alkali na babbar majalisa a shekarar 1957.
Onyeama ya taɓa zama alkalin kotun kolin Najeriya daga shekarun 1964 zuwa 1967. Abokan aikinsa a Kotun Koli sun haɗa da Sir Adetokunbo Ademola, Sir Lionel Brett, Sir Vahe Bairamian, Justice GBA Coker, Justice MO Ajegbo, da Justice Chike Idigbe.[10]
Bayan wasu jerin hukunce-hukuncen da ba a yarda da su ba na kotun ƙasa da ƙasa (ICJ) a shekarar 1966, ƙasashen Afirka sun bukaci karin wakilci a tsakanin alkalan ta. Alkalin Australiya da ya cika kujerar da aka kebe ga Commonwealth ya maye gurbin Onyeama bayan an zaɓe shi a watan Nuwamba 1966, wanda ya kara adadin alkalan Afirka a ICJ zuwa biyu.[11] Onyeama ya yi aiki daga shekarun 1967 zuwa 1976 kuma Taslim Olawale Elias ya gaje shi.[12]
An naɗa shi a matsayin alkali na 1971 Beagle Channel Arbitration.[13]
Daga shekarun 1982 zuwa 1990, ya yi aiki a matsayin alkali a kotun kula da harkokin bankin duniya.[14]
