Nested Zellij when doing ssh

When I ssh into a machine with the Zellij setup to automatically start Zellij it starts a nested Zellij.
This ends up wasting a lot of screen realestate.

Is there a way for Zellij to know it's already in a zellij session and not start over?
Maybe send something over the SSH session
