Insert pre-move comment after a variation #275
Labels
Comments
The PGN format is ambiguous regarding text comments, as it does not specify clearly to which move a comment relates to: it's up to the software implementers to guess this relation depending on the context. Still, in the situation you describe, what is guessed by RPB Chessboard could be improved. |

How to insert a pre-move comment immediately after a variation? In following the assumed syntax, the pre-move comment appears before the variation which is misleading because the comment applies to the move after the variation, not to the variation.
Example:
Input syntax
(variation){pre-move_comment} next_move
Expected output
(variation) pre-move_comment next_move
Actual output
pre-move_comment (variation) next_move
