Hi Yihui and team,

I love this theme so far! I have one suggestion about the "dangerous" vertical side title design.

  1. It forces users to have a certain length of content for each block. If the content is too short, the title will be cut off (see screenshot), if too long, it is not perfectly central aligned.
  2. If the vertical subtitle is too long but the content is short, we might also need to consider the text wrapping which might cause some padding issues.
  3. Aesthetically speaking, vertical title or subtitle mixed with content is not an efficient design.

But I would like to hear from you that any specific idea behind this design?

Thank you!

Thanks for the feedback! I was aware of the problems that you mentioned. The technical issues (1 & 2) are not easy to deal with. I was thinking of providing an option so that users can make these side titles horizontal. For 3, the side titles are not meant to show important information, e.g., they only show the categories of posts. They are deliberately vertical to be deemphasized. BTW, the vertical layout also leaves more horizontal space for the content of the cards.
