Another inconsistency in the VeriFast parser. This works:

typedef int my_int;

my_int foo(my_int k)
//@ requires true;
//@ ensures true;
{
  return (my_int)k;
}

While this does not parse:

typedef int my_int;

my_int* foo(my_int* k)
//@ requires true;
//@ ensures true;
{
  return (my_int*)k;
}
