Neovim since 2014 has gathered the effort of hundreds of contributors to realize these forgotten goals of Vim:

  • Work as a component: support embedding as a primary use-case.
  • Work as a platform: let users extend the core editor without limits.
  • Work as a server: enable new, modern GUIs.
  • Work in the terminal: TUI experience should be like any modern GUI

Thanks to your support, we delivered:

  • vim.iter, vim.snippet and other Lua "stdlib" modules, updated default colorscheme, and new treesitter features, in 0.10
  • remote TUI, improved Lua + syntax (treesitter) capabilities, in 0.9
  • out of the box support for LSP and tree-sitter in 0.5
  • APIs for diagnostics in 0.6
