Hey all, I'm Brian Olsen (he/him/bits) 👋🏻. I'm a Software Engineer and Developer Advocate dedicated to advancing awareness of and developer experience on the distributed SQL query engine, Trino 🐰. I spent four years as a user of Trino and started to build out missing features, documentation, and

Today, I have some exciting plans to make Trino more accessible, but I need the infrastructure to do it.

One of my biggest plans is to build TrinoFiddle, a simple app to share Trino SQL problems and solutions akin to SQLFiddle. I would use the funds to pay for managed kubernetes cloud infrastructure to host the app (currently I'm using a server in my office). I would also use the funding to get help improving the UI experience of this site.

Another initiative I have in mind is building out Trino support for python dataframe apis. Now that Trino has fault-tolerant execution, we need to appeal to folks who run larger batch jobs using python. I am building enablement using python jupyter notebooks with a bunch of cool defaults to start playing with Trino. To make this more performant I'm also driving better alternatives to do parallel reads from the

Lone-bunny is a project where @nineinchnick and I are investigating a standalone option for Trino to avoid having to run Trino as a server which makes getting started much simpler.

I've already created a Docker-based getting started repo, but I will be transitioning it to use the Helm charts in the trinodb/tutorials repo.

Outside of this technical work, any additional funds made will start building out the Trino swag store so that we can start bringing funds to the Trino Software Foundation.
