When attempting to update Asset Tag numbers via bulk import (Update Existing Values), an error occurs stating that serial numbers must be unique. This requirement applies to updating serial numbers as well—both Asset Tag numbers and serial numbers must be unique. Without unique identifiers, Snipe-IT cannot determine which asset to update. As a result, bulk updating assets using the import feature is not possible.
Reproduction steps
Import asset changes using the import feature. Ensure to check "Update Existing Values?"
...
Expected behavior
Serial and asset tag numbers should be unique. However, you should be able to overwrite them when updating an asset; as long as you're not creating a duplicate.
