Using own template files for pandoc is always a risc. Why do you need some?

The goal is to provide students with a "read to eat" format for their assigments/theses. No need to understand latex etc. The standard pandoc template is not suitable for academic assigments/theses.

I doubt that. I believe that, with a report or a KOMA-script report drop-in, everything can be customized on the fly. Prove me wrong by showing me an example, and I will try to battle it.

A Markdown template looks much cleaner than a TeX template. Students like it simple. We should give them simple stuff. Besides, too mayn curly braces in LaTeX.

When people need to edit their latex files as a "downstream" doc, an angel loses its wings.

@vfulco Have you had a chance to test the yart template? I would be happy getting feedback on errors etc.

Apologies. I don't check gmail (where these notices are sent to me) often since I am in mainland China. Will give the template a try in next 48 hours. TIA.
