What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.create connection
2.attempt to connect
3.log shows P:OpenVPN 2.3_alpha3 arm-linux-androideabi [SSL
(OpenSSL)][LZO][EPOLL][MH][PF_INET6][IPv6 payload 20110522-1 (2.2.0)] built on
Aug 2 2012

then hangs

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I see:
log shows P:OpenVPN 2.3_alpha3 arm-linux-androideabi [SSL
(OpenSSL)][LZO][EPOLL][MH][PF_INET6][IPv6 payload 20110522-1 (2.2.0)] built on
Aug 2 2012

I should see a lot more attempting to connect

What mobile phone are you using?
Samsung Galaxy SIII on Sprint

Which Android Version and stock ROM or aftermarket like cyanogenmod?
Stock Rom, Android version 4.0.4

Please provide any additional information below.

When I click the I button I get "No active interface" and if I hit the X button
I get NO PROCESS messages.

It seems like the openvpn process is dying before it can try to connect. I've
imported a linux openvpn config both manually settings the settings and by
importing the config file and both ways act the same. I have comp-lzo but no
tls encryption. I'm using Certificates as the setting and tried both pointing
the files on the sdcard and imported them inline with no change.

Can you increase the loglevel? (Under advanced settings) and see if there are
more logs?

If I set it to level 5 - Debug, I get a bunch of P: lines with config settings,
then the P: line with the Openvpn version, then P:MANAGEMENT:Connected to
management server at /data/data/de.blinkt.openvpn/cache/mgmtsocket and then it
sits there. If I press the I in the circle I get No active interface.

Can you uncheck the listen to network changes option under general setting and
see if that changes anything?

Can you test the next version http:https://plai.de/android/icsopenvpn0522pre4.apk? It
should fix the problem or at least give a proper error message when check for
network changes its enabled.

I installed that version and it hangs at the same point when the network
changes option is enabled, but I do now see fixed line of text under the
toolbar at the top that says "NONETWORK: Waiting for usable network". I'm
connected via wifi at the moment.

Do you see any network status messages? OpenVPN shoul get network status
updates from Android.

closing the bug for now. I believe the phone of the submitter may not send
network status updates. If you have some new insights reply to this bug.

Sorry about the delay in responding. I just checked and it's working now. I
enabled the network change setting and it put up a line under the top bar in
the logs "waiting for network connection" and then it went away and the logs
progressed and connected normally.

Thanks!

I have the latest version (0.5.22) on my nexus 7, and I have the same issue. I
get a nonetwork message unless I turn off the listen for changes option. It
does work after turning that option off.
