What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Type in a hostname to connect.
2. Connect.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It resolves the hostname and connects.

Instead I see lots of lines like this:
P:RESOLVE: Canot resolve host address: my.host.name: [TRY_AGAIN] A temporary
error occurred on an authoritative name server.
P:SIGUSER1[soft,init_instance] received, process restarting

If I use an IP address instead of the hostname, it connects and works!

OpenVPN for Android

that is strange. Openvpn should use the android os services to resolve the
hostname. Have you tried if the hostname can be resolved in other parts of
Adnroid?

I have tried and the hostname resolves in chrome as well as random ping and dns
apps I downloaded from the market.

Can you tell me which specific hostname that is? (via email if you don't to
post public) so I can try to reproduce it?

After a private email this issue seems to be specific to a ROM version.
