ISO 8601 permits use of years with 5 or more digits "by [mutual] agreement [of]… interchange parties… on the additional number of digits in the time scale component year". Should this format use a fixed count of six, or instead allow years of larger magnitude—perhaps arbitrarily large, just like the fractional seconds precision is arbitrarily high?
