I will setup Wiki.JS as our main info gate in pour company. Employee Onboardig and IT Knowledge base articles for users will be hosted.
There are 3-4 users that will contribute to the Wiki. I want to use GitHub storage in order to be able to create content in 2 ways:
Directly from Wiki.JS UI
By updating a GitHub repo using Obsidian.
Since copy pasting image does not work from the Wiki UI, i think that we will mostly reside to creating content from Obsidian cause we will be able to contain one article in a directory along with the images for that article. So we will have a neat backup of our content which is also abstracted from Wiki and can be used standalone without any modification.
What worries me is that i am reading about issues for the GitHub integration:
Orphan data in the database (when rename/deletion occurs int he repo)
Not syncing properly
Need to go into db and "repair" things with SQL statements directly.
If that is true, then my only safe choice is to use storage plugins only as backup and try to create the structure and simplicity i want with the Wiki JS.
My main obstacles there are:
Not being able to copy paste image from screen capture. Our plethora of wiki articles are created by sniping portions of the screen and copy pasting it in the WYSIWYG editor (currently using IP.Board for our KB).
Moreover i need to have the .md file AND the images together in a folder. Obsidian is very helpful in this.
So to use Wiki JS means that i have to:
Create the page
Create the directory
Snip my images and save them with proper filenames on my machine disk
Upload them in the Wiki folder
Start writing the article.
It seems borderline functional , but i really really like Wiki.JS and want to use it.
I would appreciate your thoughts on the above and hopefully some guidance to better implement what i need.
