upon clicking save the terminal outputs the following:

Fontconfig warning: "/usr/share/fontconfig/conf.avail/05-reset-dirs-sample.conf", line 6: unknown element "reset-dirs"
^CINFO main: Received interrupt. Exiting...

then the program involuntarily shuts down

Can you try this build?
https://www.dropbox.com/s/aa0olvl14jmh9j3/BeeRef-0.3.0-dev-nolibfontconfig

Explanation for future reference:

https://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg21422.html
probonopd/linuxdeployqt#261

Looks like libfontconfig is automatically packaged by PyInstaller, and libfontconfig had a backward-incompatible change in its config files. So there are three options:

  • Package old libfontconfig, risk incompability with newer systems (current situation)
  • Package new libfonfconfig, risk incompability with older systems
  • Don't package libconfig at all, hope that it's present on target system (this is what linuxdeployqt did to solve this issue)

i have tried this build, it hasnt solved my issues, i did respond via email how ever recieved no response, the issue has still persisted and any use of the right click menu options results in a crash. is there any solutions as of yet? also is there an option to drag and drop web images ? i constantly get errors unable to add the image when i try this. have read the above links and was unable to successfully implement any fix that would render beeref as a usable state where i could save. it is usable in that i can use local images scale them and move them but thats it. kind regards

Can confirm saving & opening scene doesn't work on Pop OS 21.10
Though dev version(0.3.0-dev) installed using pip fixed the issue.

@IINinja I'm not sure if a fix is coming anytime soon in this repository. I think even the dev version was starting to give me issues.
You can try using a fork that has worked for me, https://github.com/mini-ninja-64/beeref
