for example

<ionic-datepicker ng-model="vm.currentDate" >
    <button class="button button-block button-positive"> {{ vm.currentDate | date:'dd - MMMM - yyyy' }} </button>
</ionic-datepicker>

I hope this is not a bug. Any ways you can get the modified value in idate variable. So no need of additionally using thi ng-model.
