Hi! I just discovered this plugin via commonsinabox and I'm wondering if this would integrate in the mailing list workflow and netiquette and if it's implemented or planned?

What I mean is, would RBE craft emails in a way mailing list users and software expect to? For instance, treat all emails in a thread as an email thread (this would involve using In-Reply-To headers), allow bottom-posting, etc.?

Thanks for the interest in the plugin. You can can currently reply to
forum posts and the reply will be posted using the "Reply-To" email header.

But, the "In-Reply-To" header is not implemented currently. I'll have
to see how that works, but this does sound like a good enhancement.

Interestingly, Github doesn't use this header for their reply-to-email
functionality. EDIT - I'm wrong, the In-Reply-To header is sent when the
reply is made from the email client.

Bottom-posting is possible, but RBE doesn't do anything special with
formatting when it is posted. Have you tested the plugin and have
different ideas on what should be done?

this could be solved by using the Message-Id from the previous message
as the In-Reply-To of the current one when a notification is sent, as
well as storing the Message-Id of a reply sent by email for later use.

afaik an email client with threading enabled will use this.

List-* headers should be added too.

not just yet, i just tried ciab and solving a few quirks i found
(probably the current setup) but maybe i can get someone to work on
this? (too many projects myself!!)

↓ it should strip anything after "-- " also :)

Yeah I found out about the "Message-ID" email header minutes after you initially posted :) See issue #49.

Will definitely add support for that.

List-* headers should be added too.

This might have to be done for the plugin that is sending the email. In this case, the list headers would have to be set from the Group Email Subscription plugin.

RBE sets the "Reply-To" email header and injects a marker into the email body contents to let users know that they should reply above it in order to reply. The plugin is more of a middleman!
