Hi there,

I’m trying to install Candle on a Raspberry Pi 4 running with Ubuntu but can’t get it working…

I tried with the orignal build from Denvi (Candle_1.1.7.tar.gz) and your version (Candle_1.1.8_for_raspi4.zip) but without any success.

I also tried to install your version onto a Raspberry Pi 4 with Raspbian 32-bit and it worked fine👌

Do you think it is possible to run it on Ubuntu?

My configuration:

  • Raspberry Pi 4 - 8Go
  • Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS - 64-bit

Thanks for your help 🙏

Hi,
Unfortunately I have no experience with Ubuntu so I don't know how to get it running. Maybe the problem might be the fact that you're running a 64-bit OS & Candle was compiled for 32-bit. It might be interesting to run Candle under Raspberry Pi 64-bit OS to see if it runs or not which will indicate it needs a 32-bit OS.

Of course an option if you want to go down that path is to download the source files, install Qt & compile under 64-bit Ubuntu. A starting point would be https://github.com/pihnat/rpi-Candle/wiki but it may be quite a bit of work.

Thanks for your answer.
I tried on Raspbian 64-bit and it does not work so it explains that.
I will try to compile it for 64-bit then 👌

If you get it working or not please post a comment to help others in the future.
best regards
